2-Sided Beam
Prairie Barnwood ceiling beams are architectural wrap components only and are not structural load-bearing members unless specifically engineered and approved.

Over 12 ft |
Beams over 12 ft require a staggered joint. Side pieces run longer than the face piece to create a puzzle-style seam. |
Project-Specific Beam Sizing
Prairie Barnwood ceiling beams are often built to order based on the specific dimensions and conditions of each project. Our standard size and length program provides a starting point for quoting and design, but beam dimensions may be adjusted to suit the project where material, construction, installation, and site conditions allow.
Overlay Dimension
When Prairie Barnwood manufactures a beam to overlay an existing beam or structure, the required inside dimensions must be provided.
Unless otherwise specified, Prairie Barnwood’s standard overlay allowance is:
• 1/4” clearance per side on width
• 1/4” clearance on depth
This equals:
• 1/2” total width clearance
• 1/4” total depth clearance
These are Prairie Barnwood’s default overlay tolerances unless otherwise specified by the installer, contractor, or customer.
Final Measure
Final beam dimensions are typically best provided by the installer or contractor.
Prairie Barnwood is happy to attend site for a final measure-up and project review where required. Site visits may be subject to a travel-based charge depending on location.
Cleating / Mounting
Prairie Barnwood beam systems may be supplied with cleating or mounting support where required by the beam type and application.
Cleat configuration depends on the beam profile, installation method, and site condition.
Mounting hardware is by installer unless otherwise noted.
